At Glenalmond we have worked hard to promote debating and with some success of late. Internally we have our hotly contested House Competition which runs throughout the Michaelmas term. This event is hugely popular and is the ideal forum for those new to debating to try their hand at this useful skill. Additionally, we have a club that meets to practise and prepare for external events.
Over the past few years we have met with considerable success on this front with junior and senior teams making it to the semi-final and final stages of the ESU tournaments. Last year we had a team in the final of the Donald Dewar competition and they debated at the Edinburgh Parliament eventually coming third. This year we have progressed well with our junior and senior teams getting to the second rounds of both the ESU juniors and Donald Dewar seniors. We are ever hopeful.
