Glenalmond College are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Director of Hockey, former Scotland international coach and National youth performance Director David Stott.

Stott is regarded as one of Scotland’s leading youth and National coaches. His notable record includes positions as High Performance Lead Coach for the Tayside and Fife- East Area Institute of Sport and High Performance Hockey Youth Manager for Scottish Hockey, where he participated in Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games, World Cups both senior and junior, European Senior and Junior championships over a period of 16 years in total, nine of which as an employee at Scottish Hockey.Commenting on his appointment, Stott said, “This post at Glenalmond is a wonderful opportunity to work with talented boys and girls on their hockey along with encouraging more pupils to get involved. Working with high performance athletes over the years has inspired me to continue with hockey and I aim to share my experience and enthusiasm throughout the school. Boys and girls have dreams of playing for their District and Country and I hope I will be able to motivate the next generation of quality high performance players. My key emphasis going forward will be to bring the girls onto the same level as the boys and also maintaining the excellent record of the school with the boys game” Mike Davies, Director of Sport at Glenalmond, commented, “We are delighted that David is joining the team at Glenalmond. Hockey at the school has gone from strength to strength recently, and we are confident that under David’s leadership our pupils will continue to excel. Already our players are making up a good proportion of the Midlands teams, and we are hopeful for selections for the Scottish squad.”

David Stott replaces Allan Law, who developed the sport at Glenalmond, leading to the boys’ team winning the Scottish Schools Cup in 2012 and more recently, 11 Glenalmond boys representing the Midlands region in the Inter-District finals – six members of the winning U16 team were Glenalmond pupils. Three Glenalmond girls have also just been selected to play for Midlands U16 and U18.
