Methven Cub Scouts make history at Glenalmond College

Methven Cubs have made history at Glenalmond College by becoming the first Cub Scout pack to make their Promise in the school's famous old chapel.

Seven boys and girls from the 7th Perthshire Methven Cub Pack were invested (on Wednesday 6 October) and promised to do their duty to God in front of the College's historic altar.

All the other members of the Methven pack looked on as the investiture took place. They were also treated to a tour of the 150 year old Chapel by the College's Chaplain, Father Giles Dove.

Methven Cub Scout Leader Tony Abbott said: "It was a very special night for all of us. The girls and boys were extremely proud to have been able to make their promise in such wonderful surroundings."

Mr Abbott, who is the catering manager at Glenalmond College, has been the volunteer Cub Scout Leader for Methven for the past 2 and a half years during which time the pack has enjoyed a three-fold increase in numbers.

The Methven Cub pack meets every Wednesday at 6.15pm either in the village's community hall or at Glenalmond College.

On Sunday October 17th the Chapel at Glenalmond will be packed with singers from all over Scotland as the school's annual Junior Schools Choral Day takes place.
