The  Uniform Shop at Glenalmond College is operated by the Direct Clothing Company, and the shop is run by Mrs Kate Dove and Mrs Margaret Whitten. This is located behind the Chapel, where there is plenty of parking space, and is best approached from Back Avenue. 

Normal opening hours during term time:  Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

Additional opening times:

Open Monday 25 June until Friday 6 July (Monday to Friday) from 9.00am to 5.00pm for new pupil appointments and Monday 27 August - Friday 7 September (Monday to Friday 9 - 5).

Closed from 7 July until 26 August.

The school uniform and sportswear are stocked in the shop (uniform lists and price lists are available on the school website) and some items of good quality, second-hand uniform (blazers, kilts and tweeds) may become available. Second-hand items may be handed in during shop opening hours and should be cleaned and in good condition.

PAYMENT

Payment can be made by cash, cheque (payable to Direct Clothing Company) or by credit card either in person or by telephoning 01738 880438 during shop opening hours).  Alternatively, payment may be made online at www.thedirectclothing.co.uk . Simply select school from the drop down menu and then the 'Direct Payments' option. Charges for items of uniform from the School Shop cannot be put on the school bill.  When pupils need to purchase items from the shop unexpectedly during term time their Housemaster or Housemistress will give them a permission form and the pupil will be asked to sign a receipt whilst in the shop.

NEW PUPIL APPOINTMENTS

For new uniform fittings, please contact the shop to arrange an individual appointment which will take approximately 45 minutes.  Appointments can be made by telephone or email (details above).  Payment must be made at the time of the appointment - either by cash, cheque or credit card.

Please note that for international pupils a uniform deposit of £1000 will be added to the first term's account.

All items must have a name tape, with the pupil's name and House initial (e.g. John Smith G) AND where possible must be clearly named with indelible pen as well.

Boys may wear a signet ring and one neck chain. Ear rings and bracelets are not allowed. One charity band and/or medical band may be worn.

Additional

items for girls

All girls are expected to adhere to the following points concerning jewellery and clothing.

Jewellery should be subtle and unobtrusive:

one pair of stud earrings (i.e. one in each earlobe)

one ring

one bracelet - plain (one charity and/or one medical band may be worn)

Scarves may NOT be worn indoors at any time and only the school pashmina or a plain navy scarf may be worn

Hats - suitable hats may be worn outdoors in inclement weather, but at no other time with school uniform. The "beanie" sports hat may be worn with sports kit

CASUAL CLOTHES

At certain times each week and for travelling between the College and home at the beginning and end of term, at half term and leave out weekends, pupils are allowed to wear casual dress. Jeans and T-shirts/sweat shirts may be appropriate at times, but "smart casuals" will also be needed.

No other outdoor jacket may be worn with uniform.

House games' shirts are available as casual wear from House Staff.

NAME TAPES AND LOOPS 

Every item of clothing, whether it be uniform or casual clothes, should be properly marked with a name tape AND where possible with indelible marker as well.

This must show the pupil's Christian name, surname and House initial.

Tape loops for hanging must be attached to games' clothes and towels.

Parents of new pupils are asked to send one dozen spare name tapes to the House Matron a week before term starts.

Naming of uniform items can be arranged for pupils living abroad for which a charge will be added.
