Early entry GCSE success November 2011
For the second year running all our early entry GCSE pupils were successful in their November 2011 sitting of GCSE. All twelve of the pupils who sat the examination achieved the top A* grade and we are delighted with their success. It is the mathematics department's policy to accelerate the brightest pupils and to enter them for their GCSE early in November of the Fifth Form. The pupils are now studying the early sections of the AS maths course as a preparation for Further Maths A level.

Intermediate Maths Challenge Success 2012
In February 2012 Intermediate Maths Challenge our pupils gained 6 gold awards, 15 silver and 8 bronze awards showing that there are plenty of younger mathematicians coming through the school.

Senior Maths Challenge Success 2011
In November our pupils gained Glenalmond's largest ever number of gold awards in the Senior Maths Challenge. There was a total of 5 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze awards gained altogether.

Best ever GCSE Grades 2011
Summer 2011 saw the best ever GCSE Mathematics results with 61% gaining an A or A* grade and 88% gaining a B grade or better.

A* grades at A level 2012
After the January A level modules three of our pupils have already safely secured A* grades at A level Mathematics- Tim Pearson, Heather Campbell and Charles Geng. Our maths A level students this year have a difficult challenge as they can only drop a maximum of around 5 marks on both C3 and C4 papers to fulfil the requirements for an A* because of the increased competition nationally.

Double A* success at A level 2011
In the June 2011 examinations both Roy Shan and Blake Wu gained A* grades in both their Maths and Further Maths A levels. Roy gained 100% first time on all four of the pure maths modules (C1-4) which was a fantastic achievement.
