The International Club is primarily a group for overseas pupils who meet weekly to discuss current affairs and issues of interest such as learning more about Scotland whilst allowing us to celebrate the rich diversity which exists within the College. It is a great opportunity for non-native speakers to practise their English but also a chance for them to share their culture with others. We organise events within the school such as a Chinese New Year celebration and also regular outings during weekends to places of interest in Scotland.

Under the management of Mrs Velasco, Mrs Norton, Mr Shelley and Mr Wright, the international club meets to discuss cultural differences between Scotland and other countries and the news. In a pleasant atmosphere everyone feels free to share a story, a tradition or a point of view. With an amazing range of different cultures represented, it offers the opportunity to learn about the traditions, the opinions and ideologies of the people who live in other countries all over the world, almost like a small trip around the world.

The International Club at Gloagburn

As well as the Saturday meetings we have been on a few trips. In particular we have enjoyed watching and discussing a number of foreign language films put on by the Perth Film Society. Mr Wright has also shared his love of St Johnstone with us as we have watched them play and this term we went to the famous Grouse Distillery in Crieff where we learnt how Whiskey is made and had a taste of Scotland's favourite drink before enjoying a cream tea at the Gloagburn Farm Shop and Cafe. We would all like to thank Mrs Velasco, Mr Wright, Mr Shelley and Mrs Norton for the effort that they put in and the great organisation.
