hereUnder 14 cricket trials are held during the winter and squads are prepared during the Lent Term. Regular block fixtures involving six, sometimes seven, teams are played on Saturday afternoons and occasionally on weekdays and Sundays. The 1st XI toured Sri Lanka at Easter 2005, soon after the Tsunami, and another overseas tour took place, to Dominica and Antigua. A senior development squad tours the North of England at the end of June each year and the U15 XI annually participates in a festival with King's Bruton, Sedbergh and Merchiston schools. The College was runner-up in The XL Club Henry Grierson Trophy in both 2003 and 2005 (a UK-wide Public School fair play award). Those boys who do not play representative or inter-house cricket participate in a softball option. The College is a training centre for Perth & Kinross Cricket and links with Scottish Women's Cricket may provide opportunities for Glenalmond girls to play the game.

Junior Colts A Cricket - Trinity 2010

Played 5 Won 4.

What a fantastic first half of term the Junior Colts A side have had! A group that is full of enthusiasm with a real work ethic, has set about its business with a real vigour that is a joy to watch. Rain-affected preparation certainly hampered our opening performance against a Fettes side, with one outstanding player who ultimately made the difference in an encouraging defeat. Next up came the 'Old Enemy' in Strath where the team certainly bounced back in style with a comprehensive defeat. The bowling attack certainly made the most of a damp wicket, cleaning up Strath for a meagre 45, a total that was comfortably reached inside eight overs. On to Arbroath HS on a windy afternoon at the cricket club, we batted first and on a slow wicket accumulated 146 for 7. Alistair Campbell (56) and Tom Galbraith (42) putting on an impressive third wicket partnership. The bowlers again ably supported by some excellent work in the field, limited our opposition to only 77. The impressive fielding continued in to our Saturday fixture against an unbeaten Dollar side. Once again tight bowling from our attack really laid the platform for an explosive spell from Fergus Booker who ripped through the opposition top order taking 6 for 10 leaving Dollar reeling at 37 all out. Another target which was comfortably reached in the tenth over without loss. This led us to our first home match of the season against the High School of Glasgow. An early start in the sunshine once again allowed our impressive bowling attack to do some damage. This time Tom Galbraith (Captain) was the pick of the bowlers with a staggering 5 for 10. Once again a total that was easily reached for the loss of only one wicket in the tenth over. The side has performed consistently well this term and the players deserve much credit for the manner in which they have applied themselves in the field. We have unearthed a strong bowling attack that has been impressively supported by some outstanding fielding. Notable catches from Cameron against Strath and Hogg against Dollar will be long remembered.

A great start to the term which will hopefully be continued in the coming weeks.

U 15 B v Merchiston Saturday May 1st

After a deluge of rain at Glenalmond the fixture was moved to Merchiston. Glenalmond lost the toss and we were put into bat. With only one practice so far this term, our batting technique was shown to contain a few flaws but Hamish Dunbar Naismith kept battling as the wickets fell around him and scored 30 before he was bowled. With a total of 87 to defend this never felt enough and whilst we took 6 wickets we were comfortably beaten. To the nets next week for some batting practice!
