Shooting at Glenalmond has a long and distinguished history ranging back to the 1870s.

The College competes in small bore .22 shooting during the Michaelmas and Lent terms. Small bore shooting is usually conducted during afternoon games on a Tuesday and a Wednesday.

The College has two small bore ranges; one is a three lane indoor 25 meters range and the other is a six lane 25 meters outdoor range.

During the Trinity Term the shooting consists of mainly full bore 7.62 mm outdoor shooting. Traditionally we have always carried out our training at local ranges on a Tuesday and a Wednesday afternoon in the Trinity Term. In future, the shooting team will also train at Castlelaw range just outside Edinburgh, alongside all the other Scottish shooting schools.

The College team competes in the OG Match, The Combined Cadet Force Match Scotland, the Brock Shield, the Scottish Schools at Barry Buddon Range complex, culminating with the Ashburton Shield and the Cadet Fours at Bisley.
