A leading boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 12-18 in Perthshire, Scotland
To help make this possible financial assistance is available through what are called bursaries and scholarships. More information is available in the downloadable leaflet, A Guide to Financial Assistance 2013 - 2014
Bursaries are financial awards that are means-tested (based on your ability to pay) and help reduce the overall cost of sending your child to Glenalmond. Bursaries are awarded purely according to the financial position of the family and are reviewed annually.
Each year funds are made available to a number of pupils for whom it would not be possible without financial assistance to come to Glenalmond or, due to changed financial circumstances, to complete their education at Glenalmond.
Applicants for bursaries can receive up to 100% of the full fee level in certain circumstances.
Applying for financial assistance at Glenalmond is straightforward. Applications are dealt with sensitively and in the strictest confidence. All applicants fill out an application form and supply documentary evidence which provides details of their income and capital. Application forms need to be returned to our Director of Finance no later than 1st March in the calendar year of entry. Applications will be considered after this date but any decision will be dependent upon the availability of school bursary funds.
Bursarial funds are made available from a number of sources which include a designated Endowment Fund, Annual Fund and Trust Funds. In addition, there are a number of educational and charitable trusts which provide assistance with school fees - in particular, in situations where children already attend the school and family circumstances change.
There are also a number of other types of financial assistance available:
Serving members of the armed forces receive an automatic 10% discount on the basic fee.
Members of the clergy receive an automatic discount of 10% on the basic fee.
From 2014 the Sibling Discount will be automatic whilst the qualifying number of children from any family are at the school at the same time, but beyond that it will be subject to the means testing process.
Scholarships are financial awards that are based on a child demonstrating excellence in a particular area. Academic, music, piping, sport (outstanding talent) and art & design scholarships are available at Glenalmond, as well as an all-rounder award for those showing particular potential in more than one area. These scholarships and awards can lead to a percentage reduction in the overall fees. Please see under Scholarships on the left.
