We had a new lineup of girls from last match but the same spirit. We started with an aggressive attitude scoring three goals by half time, making the score 3 - 2. With a new goalie and new teammates we were playing well. We entered the second half with less gusto but brought it back and would have won if there was more time. It was an exciting, rewarding match ending in a draw 6 - 6.

The U15As continued their impressive start to the season with a well deserved victory over Loretto. Despite the adverse weather conditions, both teams started the match with great determination and there were blistering runs from one end of the field to the other. It was Loretto though who put two very quick goals into the Glenalmond net. However, it did not take Glenalmond long to regroup and through great patience and superb team work began to dominate the first half of play. Within ten minutes, the team had scored 5 goals and Loretto could not break down the Glenalmond defence who played with such confidence. By the end of the first half the score was 7 - 2 in Glenalmond's favour. The second half proved to be a feisty affair with both teams chasing every loose ball and setting up double teams both in attack and defence. Superb saves at both ends of the field resulted in no goals being scored for 10 minutes and it was Loretto who began to fight back. Glenalmond weathered the storm though and fought back with another 2 excellent goals. The final score was a great reflection of how well the U15' As are playing as a squad! Well Done! MVP- Olivia Strang Steel...for her superb use of behind the goal. Olivia, not only cut from behind the goal with great vision but her drives to goal were at such speed that she left the Loretto defence standing. Well Done!

The weather was not on our side and as a result we had to play on our slightly smaller training pitch and only played fifteen minutes each way. Both teams started well and despite the bumpy and extremely muddy ground, managed to play some good lacrosse. By half-time both teams were even at 2-2 and as we entered the second half and the surface began to deteriorate, the game began to get feisty as they battled it out. A final score of 3-3 was a fair result in difficult conditions for both teams. Luckily we have a re-match later on in the term, when hopefully we can show them how much our tactical game has improved. Player of the Match was Marina Vidal

Our play throughout the match was strong with good determination. The defence did well, held together by Kayleigh Donaldson saving some fantastic shots on goal. Fiona Williamson, Georgie Horne and Alexandra Bullard did well scoring 3 great goals between them. We posted, checked and communicated well keeping the score only 8 - 3. Considering Loretto have played for longer than us we did well and we really enjoyed the match. We as a team are starting to connect with one another and play as one unit. We have learnt a lot from this match and look forward to the next one.

This was our second match of the term and even in the short space of time the girls playing has really come on. They played a good attacking game and there was great man to man marking. There was some very impressive play from Rosie Roberts who as centre played both as an attacker and defender, she seem to run up and down the pitch endlessly and to great effect. Erraid Gaskell was also a major player. But credit must go to our great Goalie Emily Simpson who even the coach from the other team commented on her excellent goal keeping skills. We will face Loretto again in 2 weeks time and lets hope that we can maintain our improvement and change the score around.

First match of the season!! We had a tricky start with Fettes scoring their first goal within the first minute and after the first 15 minutes the score was 4-1 to Fettes - Jemima scored our 1. However by the end of the first half we had managed to pull back to 4-5 with another goal from Jemima and one from Katie and Olivia. After some encouraging words from Mrs Maclean we started the second half ready to win! The team played relentlessly, with renewed energy from Mrs Maclean's Jelly Snakes at half time!!! Seven more exciting goals were scored to make the final score 11-8 to us - with Jemima scoring another 2 and 1 apiece to Alice, Flora, Olivia, Katie and Issy. Although our play was not perfect, it was a hugely successful and encouraging match! I am very proud to captain such an enthusiastic team!

The team went into the match today with high spirits. After only having one week's training they played extremely well. In an even match every time we scored a goal Fettes put one in the net shortly after. When the whistle blew for half time we were pleased to be up 5 - 4. In the second half Fettes again tied up the score but the team never let it affect their concentration. Kirstin Gaffney did a great job in goal making many saves and clearing the ball almost halfway down the field. She was voted player of the match. With the final score 8 - 7 in our favour it was good to see that five different players on offense contributed to the goals; very much a team effort. Well played!

Glenalmond's 3rds match against Fettes was, in the end, a very close game.  After being 3-0 down after the first ten minutes we ended up with 3 goals being scored by Morag Walker, 2 by Sassy Stewart Wilson and the other 3 being scored by Cat Houston, Helena Lindemann and Flora Robertson. The opposition had the attack and defence working equally hard to 'up our game' and play our best, with some excellent sportsmanship shown by the entire team. Ironically, the only time we were in the lead seemed to be when we won with a last-minute shot on goal! Our overall winning result of 8 goals to 7 was very satisfying as we had been fighting hard for the win. A great game played by all! A special thanks must go to Lily Strachan for her goal keeping debut; a very courageous start!

What a great start to the Lacrosse season of matches for Glenalmond U15A's ! From the very first whistle, everyone played with determination and the will to win! This was achieved by superb team work! Everyone was willing to chase for every ground ball, the ball carrier always had at least two options to pass to and all around the field, double teams were the order of the day! Glenalmond's passing was superb in the first ten minutes of the game and put four very quick goals into the opposition's net, not allowing Fettes to settle at all! A lapse in concentration allowed Fettes to score a quick goal but Glenalmond regrouped and scored another two very good team goals.....practice on the field had certainly paid off, as goals were being placed with precision and power! Fettes did have a chance to score several times but the defence played with such confidence, communicating where everyone was so that no player was left unmarked and turnovers happened on a regular occurrence! Helena Clayhills-Henderson made some fantastic saves and was able to clear quickly to defences who worked hard to get free and move the ball up the field. By half time the score was 10-3 to Glenalmond. In the second half, Fettes came out determined to score goals and with two excellent individual performances, they scored two very quick goals. However, Glenalmond did not panic and began to play as they had at the start of the match. It was a fantastic team performance and the score reflected how well Glenalmond played! with goals from Hannah-Jane, Molly Maclean, Sophie, Cat, Livvy and Holly. Well done to everyone!

Whilst the score line might not say it, this was a fantastic start to the season. Two practices in and we have already made progress on last season. The girls so enjoy learning and developing their game that it bodes well for matches to come. After a rather slow start which saw us 0-2 down early on, we started to respond and by the second half we were in full flow. With Ailidh Richardson (Captain) leading and Marina Vidal (Vice-Captain) ably assisting from the goal, we began to get into our rhythm. The second half was much better and with a score line of 1-3, it reflected the progress that we made as the game developed. Well done.

After three training sessions so far we went into our first game feeling rather green. With both teams having never played a match, there was a great sense of excitement all round. The first half seemed to be over all too quickly with both teams having had a fair bit of the ball. Even though the score at half time was 5-0 to Fettes it certainly didn't feel like we were being dominated in any way, with everybody putting in 100%. Our 2 goals came in the second half with the first coming from a Georgie Horne and Tara Houston combination. This was a particularly good goal. Kayleigh Donaldson was an absolute star in the goal and played with a positive attitude giving plenty of encouragement from the back. A fantastic first game, well done. Lastly, I would like to thank our supporters for cheering us on and I hope to see you again on the sidelines.

This was a really closely fought game and I was really impressed with the level of play and maturity shown. Unfortunately Fettes got 3 quick goals in the 1st 5 minutes and although we did really well to not just equalize but take the lead back they scored another quick 2 goals and we were just about to equalize when we ran out of time. The team was well led by captain Jamaica and she was backed up by some fantastic play by Izzy Farquarson, Rosie Roberts and Poppy Izat. I was extremely pleased with all the teams commitment to the game. I look forward to seeing them improve as their skill and knowledge of the game increases.
