Carly Booth turns professional

Carly Booth has become the youngest Scot ever to gain a place on the 2010 Ladies' European Golf Tour after finishing on three under par and in 14th place at the qualifying final at La Manga in Spain.

Because Carly does not celebrate her 18th birthday until June, the same month that she completes her golf scholarship here, rules dictate that she must be accompanied by a guardian when on tour.

"I'm really pleased," Carly said immediately after her win. "I will turn professional as soon as today is done. I'm still at school until June and, up until then, I'll travel with my mum, although I'll probably not play in too many tournaments."
