The Society, which has been in existence since 1933, was set up to allow enthusiastic golfing OGs to continue to enjoy golf after leaving the College. The Society participates in a wide variety of events throughout the year.
At present there are around 250 members who pay an annual subscription of £15. We are always keen to increase our playing strength and welcome any new members. Please contact the Society Secretary, David Rennie Telephone 07977 576 592.
Coll Golf Scholar Carly Booth has become the youngest Scot ever to gain a place on the 2010 Ladies' European Golf Tour after finishing on three under par and in 14th place at the qualifying final at La Manga in Spain.
Because Carly does not celebrate her 18th birthday until June, the same month that she completes her golf scholarship here, rules dictate that she must be accompanied by a guardian when on tour.
"I'm really pleased," Carly said immediately after her win. "I will turn professional as soon as today is done. I'm still at school until June and, up until then, I'll travel with my mum, although I'll probably not play in too many tournaments."
Congratulations to Colin Brown (Patchell's 1954-59) who was recently nominated as the new Captain of the R&A for 2009-10. The announcement was made at the club's annual spring business meeting. The picture opposite shows Colin and John Gordon (Skrine's 1968-73) finishing their round on the 18th green at the Old Course.

OGGS vs Old Ampleforth
17 April 2009 at Muirfield
On a raw April morning on the East coast,20 of us assembled for the morning singles at 8am.Winter gloves and woolly hats were the order of the day. In a very close tussle, the score stood at 5.5 to 4.5 in Glenalmond's favour at lunchtime. Last year, the first in the modern series of this fixture, Glenalmond prevailed comfortably morning and afternoon but clearly Ampleforth had boosted their side with some new talent. Our two (current) Halford Hewitt players had mixed fortunes, Bull losing and Primrose winning but it was three of Glenalmond's most experienced players that gave us the edge at lunch, Lawson, Harding Edgar and Ballantine all victorious. So, it seemed, the contest was finely poised and could have gone either way. However, something happened during the lunch break which swung fortunes dramatically. The OGs that had lost in the morning won in the afternoon; in fact every OG won in the afternoon and we took the foursomes 5-0. Special thanks to John MacLean (singles) and Jamie Skinner (foursomes) who stood in for the injured Michael Walker at short notice and both won. No tales of holes in one or heroic recoveries to report but a good day had by all and we plan to repeat the fixture next year.
