Mrs Kathryn Watson, Housemistress
ETHOS Home is a warm, friendly house for girls aged between 11 and 18 years old. With the introduction of house 'families' the girls mix freely across the year groups, giving the younger girls peers to look up to and the older girls a sense of responsibility for the new arrivals.

|
This provides a second level of support for the girls in addition to that given by myself as Housemistress and the prefects. In everything that we do, we aim to show respect for those around us, be it to grow as an individual, work to their best ability or to give them the space that they need in the house.
HOUSEMISTRESS
As Housemistress, I am passionate about encouraging the girls to be the best that they can in their academic, social and extra-curricular lives. This is my fourth year in Home House, where I live with my husband Michael, who is the Head of English, my daughter Megan (5) and son Cameron (3). Our door is always open to the girls and we run the house as an extension to our own family.

HOUSE COUNCIL AND COLOURS
Last year saw the introduction of the House Council, which meets once a half term to suggest improvements for the running of the house. Everything possible is done to effect the suggested changes and so far it has introduced a weekly tidy room prize, changes in food supplies, more mirrors for the corridors, suggestions for outings and many other ideas.
Pupils are now awarded half and full colours for their positive contribution to the house and those who live in Home. The girls are awarded silver and pink salamander badges for half and full colours respectively.
SOCIALS
Home girls participate fully and enthusiastically in all areas of life at Glenalmond College and, whilst they work hard, we always have time for some fun as a house. Last year we introduced a Christmas party and talent show, we have been white water rafting, we have had an inflatable tournament, tutor outings and lots of cooking in Mrs Watson's flat.
THE STAFF
Davina Gallacher, with her great sense of humour and warm heart, is the Matron of Home and a great friend to all who live here. Lauren Kirk is the Assistant Housemistress and she is always at hand to help in any situation. There is also a dedicated team of tutors who assist during the evenings and on the academic side.
