The education we provide extends far beyond the classroom, and our young people grow in all aspects of their lives.
As a full boarding school, the pastoral education and care of our pupils is particularly important and the support we provide is equally available to all our day pupils.
House staff have a key role in the pastoral life of Glenalmond. The house master or house mistress lives in the house with their own family, and they and the academic tutors make it a priority to get to know the pupils as individuals. They are always available to advise and support their pupils, whether in an academic or a personal context.
The Chaplain is also available to listen to the day to day concerns students may have, and sometimes a listening ear is all that is required.
Specialist support is also on hand if needed. Ms Maria Trygger, our Director of Pupil Welfare, is always ready to offer practical help to those in need. She is qualified to help with a number of problems including depression, panic attacks, low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, anger problems and other issues that can affect young people at different stages in their lives.
