Social Facilities

The Moncrieff Centre is Glenalmond's Sixth Form club where those in the Lower and Upper Sixth gather throughout the day and evening to socialise.

All pupils in the Sixth Form have access to the centre outside lesson, prep and activity times during the day and in the evening up until 9.45pm, except on Tuesdays and Thursdays when the period after prep is spent in Houses. Pupils pay a small membership fee which is used to renew disco equipment and games and also funds the best coffee and chocolate machine on campus.

Social evenings are held on most Saturdays when other events such as formal balls and school plays are not being performed. There are three major formal balls each year in addition to the Leavers' Ball: St Andrew's Night, Burn's Night and St. Valentine's Night. A strictly monitored amount of alcohol is served with food to all Sixth formers on Saturday nights.

The Moncrieff Centre is a licensed club with a pupil-led social committee which liaises with Mr Sandy Norton, the Head of Sixth Form, whose classroom is adjacent to the centre. Decisions are made as to expenditure and the shape of social events.. A team of tutors also help with supervision and many other staff drop in on Saturdays to mix with the older pupils in an informal atmosphere.
