Each year funds are made available to a number of pupils for whom it would not be possible without financial assistance to come to Glenalmond or, due to changed financial circumstances, to complete their education at Glenalmond. These awards (Bursaries) are means-tested, and applicants can receive up to 100% of the full fee level in certain circumstances.
Applicants are required to complete an application form which provides details of their income and capital. The form must be accompanied by documentary evidence to substantiate the figures declared. Completed forms and supporting documents should be returned to the Director of Finance no later than the March 15th in the calendar year of entry. Applications will be considered after this date but will be dependent upon the availability of bursary funds.
The Bursary Committee determine the level of each award based on the academic and financial information provided, with reference to a Bursary Scale which is revised annually. Other factors considered include the future potential of the applicant, whether there is a sibling already at Glenalmond, as well as social needs. An offer of an award will be communicated before the start of the Summer term.
The award is reviewed annually and is conditional upon satisfactory performance and conduct by the pupil when at Glenalmond.
Bursary applications are treated confidentially; personal data will be securely stored and details will not be disclosed to any other party.
Bursarial funds are made available from a number of sources which include a designated Endowment Fund, Annual Fund and Trust Funds. In addition, there are a number of educational and charitable trusts which provide assistance with school fees - in particular, in situations where children already attend the school and family circumstances change.
