CHAPEL

Chapel News Link

Chapel is central to Glenalmond life

The Glenalmond community comes together for worship at least once every day apart from Saturday in term-time. There are also services during the holidays, as announced. This emphasis on Christian living and belief underpins a great deal of what happens in College. We also respect the beliefs and approaches of those who have another faith or none, and whilst all pupils are invited to share in Christian faith, they should not feel compelled to do so.

Regular Services in Term

Sundays at 10.45am (or 5.45pm)

Holy Eucharist or Morning (or Evening) Prayer

When the full College service is Morning or Evening Prayer, there will be a brief voluntary celebration of the Eucharist, usually immediately after Morning/Evening Prayer for those who wish to receive Communion

Weekdays at 8.30am (or 5.50pm)

Morning (or Evening) Prayer

A brief corporate act of worship for the College, usually comprising a Scripture reading, address, prayer and hymn

The Sacraments

The Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday in term-time. Christians of any denomination who would normally receive Communion in their own church are invited to receive Holy Communion in Chapel. Members of the College are prepared for Confirmation (in the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Church of Scotland and associated Churches; Roman Catholic pupils may also be prepared by arrangement), usually in Fifth Form. Baptism, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (commonly called Confession) and the Anointing of the Sick are available following consultation with Father Giles. Outwith term-time, Chapel can be available for Weddings – please contact the Bursar's Office for more information.
