The Glenalmond College admissions policy is designed to make the process of applying to send your child here clear and straightforward.
The admissions process begins right here with a browse around the Glenalmond website. If you think Glenalmond could be the right place for your child's education, request a prospectus and DVD or contact us to arrange a visit.
Good education and fantastic opportunities, in a caring environment. Current parent
We welcome visitors throughout the academic year. A visit to Glenalmond allows you and your child to actually experience what the school is all about. Visits are relaxed and involve both meeting with the Warden (Headmaster) and pupils. For more information take a look at the Arrange a Visit page.
We host a Taster Day each September during which prospective pupils and their parents are invited to take part in lessons and extra-curricular activities. These days are fun-filled and can involve anything from making mini-rockets in the technology department, taking an English or foreign language lesson, trying out our outdoor climbing wall, setting up science experiments or having a go at lacrosse. It's not just the children who enjoy these days - many parents have enjoyed 'going back to school' as well!
We will let you know about other events during the school year, which you may want to come along to. The Glenalmond community is a very welcoming one, and parents who are considering Glenalmond are welcome to see the school in action at school plays, concerts and sporting events. These often offer an excellent opportunity for you to talk to current parents, who will always be happy to tell you more about Glenalmond.
If you then wish to register for entry to Glenalmond College you need to complete a registration form and send it to the Registrar. There is a small registration charge of £50 (non-refundable) which is paid at the point of registration. This is not a guarantee of a place, as all places offered are subject to the pupil meeting the minimum reference and academic entry requirements. Once registered we will keep you informed about entry exams and any other updates regarding the admissions procedure.
The Registration Form (PDF, 1.24MB) is available to download.
We always try to accommodate parental wishes expressed about the Houses they would like to see and following a visit, your son's or daughter's name will be placed on the list for any one preferred House. When that list reaches capacity, names will be added to another House list and also put on a waiting list for that of first choice. A transfer will be made if a space becomes available.
