OG Andrew Macdonald (Skrine’s 79-84) and his London-based film company, DNA, have won an Oscar!
Andrew was one of the producers on ‘Ex Machina’ - which turns actress Alicia Vikander into an Artificial Intelligence robot with a human face and a mechanical body – winning the Best Visual Effects category during the award ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on 28 February. The visual effects team was led by Andrew Whitehurst at Double Negative, and included Sara Bennett – the first woman to win in this category.
Andrew Macdonald said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won for visual effects – testament to the hugely creative work of the visual effects team. Amazing to be nominated in the company of blockbusters like Star Wars, let alone beat them to the prize.”
Many congratulations from everyone at Glenalmond.
