Glenalmond College heads to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to perform the world premiere of Everest Calling, a compelling and gritty drama based on the emotional and physical journey of a group of young people determined to take on one of Earth's hardest challenges.
Fictional Sunnyhill School wants pupils who push the limits. "What's your Everest?" is the headmaster's rallying cry. Moving from the smooth turf of UK playing fields to the punishing Himalayan landscape, outcomes are unexpected and pupil chaos is unleashed. Complete crisis is reached as pupils Keldan and Lucy head for their own dark side as Everest is calling...
This gripping world premiere, by acclaimed author and Everest summiteer Matt Dickinson, is performed at the Edinburgh Fringe by pupils of Glenalmond College.
Working closely with the author, pupils have been instrumental in the creation and development of the new work, set against stunning and exclusive film footage shot on Everest earlier this year.
Combining comedy with dark drama, while the intricate complexities of human nature are explored, Everest Calling follows pupils from their comfortable school life to the most compelling test yet faced in their young lives.
The show runs from 21-26 August, 7.40pm each evening, at the Emerald Theatre, Greenside @ Nicolson Square.
