Appin Mackay-Champion has been awarded a much coveted place in the flagship National Youth of Orchestras of Scotland Jazz Band as a saxophonist.  This is one of the most competitive national ensembles in which to secure a place, and Appin has beaten off some outstandingly talented musicians to gain membership.  To take advantage of membership of this group she has had to turn down a further offer to play clarinet in the NYoS Senior Orchestra.

Robert Baldwin has been offered September 2016 places to study horn at two of the world's leading conservatoires, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow and the Royal Academy of Music in London.  Robert was in competition with applicants from all over the world and becomes the second Glenalmond pupil in recent years to be awarded a place at the RAM – Tamsin Birch (who left in 2011) is currently a singing student there.
