After a seven year restructuring and investment programme within Glenalmond College’s Music Department – witnessing the introduction of many new teachers and instruments - the school was thrilled to win multiple awards in many musical disciplines at this year’s tough, three week long Perform in Perth competition.
At the final on Saturday 19 March Robert B on French horn was awarded the Premier Trophy (overall champion) for being the outstanding competitor from the winners of the Open Solo Instrumental classes. Robert was judged on his performance of ‘Hunter’s Moon’ by Vinter.
Together with this accolade, Robert also achieved the Thomas H. Stewart Memorial Award for attaining the highest mark in all Open and Advanced Brass Classes.
Glenalmond’s Director of Music, Dr Tim Ridley said: “These guys work their socks off throughout the year. We have enhanced musical choice across the board at Glenalmond College and are delighted with these results. Perform in Perth is a vital part of our musician’s musical training and we are absolutely thrilled with all of these achievements. Robert B has gained a place at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Angus P has won a place at Cambridge to study music.”
Glenalmond won an impressive additional twenty-one classes in a huge variety of instrumental and oral disciplines.
