Glenalmond beat Dollar Academy's new team yesterday at the Gannochy. It was Dollar's first game for a couple of years and there were some promising players amogst them.
Fuller details and stats later this week!
Merchiston Castle 69 - Glenalmond 22 October 2nd
Independent Schools Friendly
Merchiston turned out a well coached team with two very capable 6'3" players who dominated the boards at both ends. It's a while since that could be written about Glenalmond's taller players! Our current tallest is a mere 5'10"! Coll's shooters were not hitting their shots from the outside, and in the paint they were guarded out of any worthwhile shot-taking.
Not one of our finest performances but there was effort and a refusal to let the heads hang, despite the clear superiority of our hosts.
Well played Merchiston for the win and well played Coll for the effort.
Coll 35 - Cumnock 82 September 18th
Scottish Schools Open Boys Cup game
After only two hours of court time this season we were matched up against a team containing three Troon Tornadoes (top 3 National league team) players, one of whom is a current U18 Scottish international. Little wonder then that we were soundly beaten in the Gannochy Hall yesterday.
However, there is much to be gained from the fixture - our team saw how top teams play and will, no doubt, be inspired to raise their game. We played good basketball, with some defensive lapses, and never gave up. Our display was heart warming in its intensity to stay in the hunt for points.
Top scores:-
Dougal Gordon - 12 points, including two three pointers
Adam Wang - 11 points.
Congratulations to Callum McCarter, scoring his first basket, the last of the fourth quarter!
Bad day at the office for new captain Josh Haylock who ran out with cramp in the fourth quarter with no points to his name!
