Glenalmond College has a proud history of providing a home-from-home for the families of His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
For Forces families, life can mean change, movement, and periods of separation. At Glenalmond, your child can have the stability of a home, a school, and a community they know, even when life beyond Glenalmond changes.
Our 300-acre estate in the heart of Scotland offers a unique experience - a place of adventure and community, where staff and their families live alongside our boarding houses, creating a close-knit environment where children feel at home.
Here is our promise to you:
Most importantly, we make a promise to our military families that we will know, see, and understand your child.
We recognise and support the unique challenges your child will face as with a parent serving in the Armed Forces. We are committed to your child’s welfare, their education, their enrichment, and ultimately, their happiness.
While Glenalmond is proudly Scottish and enjoys the greatest traditions of our 180-year history, we offer an extensive GCSE and A Level curriculum which aligns with the vast majority of independent schools across the United Kingdom.
We understand that changing schools can mean gaps in learning. Forces children may move between several schools, sometimes with different approaches to teaching and learning. As a non-selective school, we work with you and your child to understand their individual needs, identify any gaps in knowledge, and put the right specialist academic support in place.
Knowing your child is safe and well supported is essential. You want to know they are also getting the best boarding experience. There are few, if any, schools that compare to Glenalmond College.
Our weekend programme is packed with fun, entertainment, and new learning experiences. On one Sunday alone, our boarders got to choose between scuba diving and Indian cookery school, taking part in a Sunday Funday with bungee runs, bucking bronco, giant football darts, and a slip and slide, as well as taking advantage of our own 9-hole golf course or fly fishing on our own stretch of the River Tay. We recognise some children want quieter times ,and give them space to read or be creative.
Choosing the right school for your child is a big decision, particularly when family life involves postings and deployment. Let’s set up an initial call and then arrange for a personalised visit as you decide which home-from-home is right for your child.
