Over half term Campbell G, our golf captain, was runner-up in the U18 US Kids European School Golf Championship’, which was played on The New Luffness course, East Lothian.
Kaleem B promoted to Stage Three with Scottish Rugby
Borders boy and former Glenalmond College Captain of Rugby and Prefect, Tom Galbraith (Goodacre’s 09-14), has graduated from the BT Sport Scottish Rugby Academy into a full-time, professional deal with Edinburgh.
OG XI v Glenalmond 1st XI, Sunday 30th April 2017
A chilly spring day greeted the OG team to their old stomping ground at Glenalmond, a team this year comprising a mixture of youth, skill, cricketing experience and humour. This has sometimes been a rarity in years gone by, partly down to the various humiliations on the field that have gone before.
Campbell G won the individual stroke-play Perth & Kinross Schools' Cup on Monday 1 May, at Pitlochry Golf Club.
Full Oxford Blue achieved by Glenalmond former pupil
Tobermory Mackay Champion (Goodacre’s 11-16) has earned a prestigious Full Blue for swimming, setting a new Varsity record for 100m breaststroke. Blues are awarded at both Oxford and Cambridge for taking part in the Varsity Match for that particular sport.
Congratulations to Campbell G (Goodacre's) and Cameron G (P) who has been awarded a golf scholarships at the prestigious Gleneagles Golf Club. This is in recognition of Campbell's and Cameron's G hard work and performance during 2016 and to help with his development and progress for the 2017 season.
Gleanalmond's Kaleem B played in for the SRU U19 Development Squad at Meggetland on 23 November. A minibus with teachers and pupils drove down to Murrayfield to watch and support Kaleem in his first match for the SRU. The Scotland team played well and gave their opponents Georgia a challenging battle.
Glenalmond are delighted to hear that Kaleem B has been selected for the Scotland U19 Development Squad.
Congratulations to the Glenalmond Golfers who have for the second year running won the P&K Schools' Championship Trophy....
Two Glenalmond pupils played hockey in the National Youth Club finals following on from their successful matches in Glasgow.
Glenalmond swimmer Tom J has qualified for the UK national swimming championships in Sheffield this summer.
After a seven year restructuring and investment programme within Glenalmond College’s Music Department – witnessing the introduction many new teachers and instruments - the school were thrilled to win multiple awards in many musical disciplines at this year’s tough, three week long Perform in Perth competition.
OG Andrew Gibson (Goodacre’s 2011-15) is celebrating the offer of a golf scholarship with the prestigious Cougars at the University of Houston, USA. Congratulations also go to Sixth Form pupil, and current Scottish Boys' Champion, Will P who has been offered a golf scholarship at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga.
Currently choosing between Psychology, Business Management and Sports Management, Andrew’s four year course will expose him to tough golfing and academic tuition following in the formidable footsteps of Faldo, Fred Couples and Fuzzy Zoeller. “They are some good names,” says Andrews, “it makes you realise that it is possible to follow and perhaps do what they are doing.”
Goodacre’s House gained a clean sweep in the inter-house swimming gala, with both junior and senior teams winning with an impressive number of 1st places.
