The overall pass rate for Glenalmond pupils was 98.7% and we are very proud of all of our leavers as they now look towards their university careers.
Our pupils have reason to celebrate today having achieved a very strong set of results in the 2018 A Level exams.
One in five pupils achieved A* or A in all of their chosen subjects. Almost 99% (98.7%) of pupils achieved an overall pass rate and results were particularly strong across language subjects where every pupil achieved A* - B grades for French, Spanish and German. A comparison against other schools (below) highlights our strong performance:
Two thirds of pupils sitting Maths A Level have been awarded A* or A, an increase of ten percentage points on 2017 results, with 91.3% passing with A*-C grades. One in two pupils achieved A* - A grades for Biology, up from 35.3% last year. 90% of English Literature students received A* - B passes. The first pupil at Glenalmond to ever sit the Electronics A Level passed with an A* - adding to her already impressive set of results (2 A* and 1 A).
Commenting on the results, Elaine Logan, Warden at Glenalmond said: “These results reflect the hard work and commitment of our pupils and of the staff who have supported them. At Glenalmond we encourage all pupils, who come from many different backgrounds, to strive for excellence in everything they set out to achieve. Every pupil has a different story to tell, and this cohort leave us well equipped to move on to their next chapter.”
