Pictured below are Lorne R and some of the 'A' pipe band pictured with the Melville Cup for Drill and Turnout which they won yesterday at the CCF Pipes & Drums competition. The band were inspected after their musical performance in the competition and were announced winners of this trophy for the first time! (This trophy has been presented since 1990).
A lovely email has also been received from Alastair Rose
As a former President of the Scottish CCF Schools Piping Committee, may I congratulate Glenalmond on winning the prestigious Melville Cup for Band Drill and Turnout yesterday. I have always felt that this is one of the most important trophies. The general public appreciate the appearance of a Band more than their music which sounds the same to most people.
Your Band was most impressive when they marched down the Royal Mile from the Canongate to Holyrood Palace recently, for the Order of St John.
As an old soldier I was most impressed with their bearing and style which was every bit as good as a Regular Army Band.
With every good wish to you and Glenalmond College,
Alastair Rose (Lt Col Retd)
