It has been a busy old term for the Pipes & Drums with performances and competitions going on throughout the term.
The band is much in demand at both internal and external events. Our training band and parade band combined early in the term to play at the Parents’ Association Burns’ Supper; a short performance in the Quad prior to the main event and thankfully no snow on the ground to contend with.
The competition band has been hard at work preparing for band competitions as well as the Gala Concert in the Perth Concert Hall which saw the band closing the first half of the concert with their competition medley set.
Soloists have been competing throughout the term with prizes listed below and we were delighted to provide a quartet of pipers supporting the Order of St John charity by playing at a concert in St Ninian’s Cathedral early in February. A small group will be playing at an Awards ceremony at the Dunblane Hydro in early March and our next band event will see us performing at the school Open Day with one or two players going on to perform at McDairmid Park later that day and then the final Sunday of term, 24 March, sees us competing at the Glasgow Highland Club Schools competition.
