Glenalmond College pupils enjoy another successful year at the annual Perform in Perth competition.
This year, our Music Department reduced our entries to Perform in Perth to concentrate on preparations for the Gala Concert, however we still had five talented musicians enter the competitive music festival.
Fourth Formers Katherine Wallace (Lothian) (Intermediate Clarinet) and Charlie Bradshaw (Reid's) (Open Trumpet) both performed exceptionally well in their classes and were unfortunate to miss out on their respective wins.
Ben B (Cairnies) was successful in his class, winning the Advanced Clarinet, even though he is only in the Second Form.
Alex M (Upper Sixth, Goodacre's) was awarded the Lord Provost McNab Gold Medal for Open Singing, having won that class and also the Open Music Hall. She was also awarded the Louis Barnett Memorial Trophy for securing the highest mark in all Advanced and Open Woodwind classes when she won the Open Oboe.
Alexander W (Lower Sixth, Patchell's) was awarded the Eoin Bennet Prize for winning the Open Organ, the Cairncross Brothers Trophy for winning the Open Piano Recital, the MacFatridge Rose Bowl for securing the highest mark in all Advanced and Open Piano classes and, last but not least, the Premier Trophy as the outstanding musician in the Festival - for the second year running.
Huge congratulations to all our talented performers.
