Sir Christopher Geidt (Patchell’s 74-79) makes historic announcement to Buckingham Palace staff

The recent news of Prince Philip’s retirement was delivered to Palace staff by the former Scots Guard, and now much-trusted Private Secretary to the Queen, OG Sir Christopher Geidt.

During a meeting in the Buckingham Palace ballroom, when several hundred staff were gathered to hear the news that the Prince would, from August, be stepping down from royal duties, it was the Queen’s most reliable aide who was trusted with the important announcement.

Sir Christopher has been in the position of Private Secretary since 2007 and his distinguished career is the subject of a recent BBC radio profile.
