Amazing day to have virtually the whole school out together on the school golf course for the annual Glenlamond Steeplechase. The day showed that sport can bring everyone together, no matter how fast or slow you run, everyone was cheered the whole way round and through the finish line, whatever their position.
The weather was very kind to us and it was a spectacular sight to see so many brightly coloured runners bringing the school golf course to life with smiles, laughter, determination, competitiveness and also support for each other and fantastic House and School spirit. Thank you for all the effort you put in, to the costumes, face paints, colours, running, supporting, cheering and celebrating. Glenalmond at its very, very best.
Thank you to all the staff who joined in with the run - some impressive performances from the teachers but I can also assure all pupils that the staff were very impressed by you, your running, your team spirit and your positive approach to the whole event.
At the front of the various races we had some fantastic displays of cross country running talent. Full individual and team results will be published as soon as possible and don't forget that every runner who finished the race will score valuable points for their House. The medals and trophies will be presented in assembly, but at this stage a special congratulations to race winners as below:
Some great House colours and costumes on display with Will R taking a special 'incognito' award and Home, Goodacre's and Lothian once again leading the way with their House costumes, face and body paint.
We were delighted to have a touch of Hollywood this year with the VIP guest appearance by 'The Minions' and also special mention to 'Heartbreak Ridge Gardner' for completing the full distance in full combats...and sunglasses.
The Golf Course was the place to be today.
Hope your legs are not aching and your faces are not sunburned but that you are happy and proud at being a special part of another day to celebrate and remember at Coll.
Mr Andrew Rowley
Director of Sport (and the race!)
