Successful week for Glenalmond at Bisley, 2018
The first day at Bisley went well. The boys enjoyed good conditions and saw their scores creeping up, helped by Scotland and Great Britain international, OG Peter Glen (2009-2014, Reid's) (far left) who was able to pass on some of his top tips!
The second day saw some welcome cloud which took the pressure off. All the boys shot very well and everybody improved on the previous day's scores. They were visited by OG John Gilmour (1944-49, Matheson's) after whom our Gilmour Range is named.
By day 3 at Bisley, the shooters were tired by upbeat. Well done to Euan M (Patchell's) who was sitting 48th out of c.500 shooters and taking home a coveted Bisley silver spoon for his average yesterday.
Final day at Bisley and the end to a successful week. They finished 8th in the Ashburton Fours (Euan M, Jack C, Rory SN and Ramsay P), 7th in the Schools Pairs (Tristan F and James G) and Harry L finished 9th in the reserve.
To give context to the results, there were around 40 schools competing. Euan M also finished in the top 100 shooters as an aggregate over the week and finished a truly excellent 5th (out of 448 potential competitors) in the Spencer Mellish individual trophy. The OG Rifle Club then kindly hosted us at the Army Rifle Club for a meal this evening.
Thank you to Mr Rattray for the updates and well done to all the boys!
