OG Carly Booth (2008-2010, Lothian) has been named Golf Ambassador for the inaugural European Championships this August.
We were delighted to hear that former Glenalmond pupil and Ladies European Tour golfer, Carly Booth, has been named as an ambassador for the inaugural European Championships.
The European Championships 2018 will be hosted jointly by Glasgow and Berlin from Thursday 2 August until Sunday 12 August. The competition combines some of Europe's major sports including the existing European Championships for Athletics, Aquatics, Cycling, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon, but will now include a new Golf Team Championship.
As the golf ambassador, Carly is supporting a ground-breaking event in the golfing world, which will see men and women playing in a 50/50 field for equal prize money. The event also boasts an innovative new format which includes a mixed team event.
Carly is known for being the youngest ever winner of a Ladies Club Championship in Britain at the age of 11. She was awarded Glenalmond's first ever golf scholarship in 2008 and then became the youngest Scot to qualify for the Ladies European Tour (LET), at the age of 17 - while she was still finishing her final year at school.
We look forward to watching the European Championships in August - particularly the golf!
