John S to play for the Scotland U18 Men's Hockey Team, this summer.
We are delighted to announce that Lower Sixth pupil, John S (Skrine's), has been selected to play for the Scotland U18 Men's team in the forthcoming 2018 EuroHockey U18 Youth Hockey Championships.
As part of the preparation for the European Championships, the Scotland U18 team recently played two international matches at home against the England U18 men's side. The first game ended 4-4, with Scotland winning overall on running penalties, while the second game was a 3-3 draw.
John will now travel with the Scotland U18 squad to Austria to compete in a further set of international matches, prior to the European Championships in Cardiff, Wales in July.
The Scotland U18 team will compete in the 'Boy's Championship II' and face the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Wales in Pool B.
Glenalmond College's Head of Hockey, David Stott, commented: "I am delighted to hear that John has made the U18 team. His selection for the National team is a testament to the hard work he has put into improving his game both technically and physically. He has been an excellent Captain of the Glenalmond 1st XII team and performed well for his Midlands district. This next step will be a big part of his pathway to becoming a Senior International player."
We wish John the very best of luck and look forward to hearing about his experiences in September.
