Upper Sixth pupil, Michael L was the overall winner - beating off competition from 2749 runners - of the unique, twilight ‘Supernova’ 5km race around the Kelpies of Falkirk on Sunday 14 November.
Kelpies - mythical creatures who (allegedly!) appear as day becomes night - provide the backdrop for the race. Runners travel around the two, 30 metre high, 300 tonnne sculptures, designed by Andrew Scott, wearing bright fluorescent colours and head torches.
Six Glenlamond pupils and two staff members took part (with geography teacher Richard Myers a close second place!) and Upper Sixth Form pupil Will G taking the bronze medal with a time of 16 minutes 43 seconds.
“The boys all trained exceptionally hard for this race,” said Mr Myers “and it shows with each earning a personal best 5km time.”
Congratulations to our top-three members, together with the rest of Glenalmond’s eight-man team, all of whom (including Mr Smith) managed a top 20 finish. “This will be a great confidence boost for all the boys leading into the upcoming competitive cross country season,” said Mr Myers.
