It has been a morning of celebration for Glenalmond College, as pupils receive their A-Level results and find plenty to be proud of.
Almost three-fifths of grades were awarded at A*–B this year, up on 2025, and almost a third at A* or A. A*–C results are also up on last year and ahead of the school's five-year average. Behind every one of those grades is a pupil who has worked hard for it, supported by staff who know them well.
Jenny Davey, Warden of Glenalmond College, said: “Behind every result opened today lies so many memories, both successes and the times when our pupils had to dig deep, the friendships, the laughter and the moments when we have come together to offer support. This year group, headed by Anton, Betsy, and Michael, lived our values of integrity, courtesy and honesty, and have left a lasting legacy. The good news is that they have inspired their successors to pick up the baton and run.
“Whatever door to their future that they walk through today, I hope the road always rises up to meet them and to show them all the opportunities they have to make a difference. They will always make the world a better place, and I am so proud of this year’s Glenalmond College leavers. ”
A number of pupils achieved outstanding individual results. Class of 2026 graduates Molly L achieved two A* Grades and an A at A-Level and an A in Higher Music, while Elka M secured two A* Grades and an A at A-Level this year, complementing her A in Higher Spanish in 2025. Holding an offer to study English & French at Wadham College, Oxford, Bettina J-H achieved four As and another Glenalmond pupil, Will K, gained two A Grades and a B.
Alongside A-Levels, Glenalmond offers a range of academic pathways, and this year's BTEC results were equally strong. Eighty per cent of pupils taking a BTEC course were awarded Distinction* or Distinction, the highest and second highest grades available.
They include outgoing Captain of College Michael S and Pipe Band Major Will P, who also achieved an A and a B in his A-Level examinations this year. Pupils following the Scottish qualifications route also performed strongly, with almost half of all Higher and Advanced Higher results awarded at A or B.
This year's results come at a time of real momentum for Glenalmond which has invested in a number of projects to further enhance the incredible offer for pupils. The school has this year launched a partnership with Chelsea FC, the first between a Scottish independent school and a Premier League club, and a partnership with Saïd Business School, University of Oxford - the first of its kind in the world - which sees pupils being offered a unique entrepreneurship programme from this October.
Together they reflect a school widening what its pupils can reach for, in the classroom and well beyond it.
Mrs Davey added: “For 180 years, pupils at Glenalmond College have benefited from one of the finest British boarding educations inspired by our founder and former Prime Minister William Gladstone.
“This latest investment builds upon the best grounding in leadership, character development and academic excellence available. Now, our pupils can expand their horizons in a truly unique way, and we are hugely excited for the coming academic year.
“The cohort of young people receiving their results today will go into a rapidly evolving world with confidence and the skills to make the most of their talents. We will look forward to seeing the achievements of these brilliant individuals as they embark on the next chapter in their lives.”
