Our sincere thanks to Father Charles Sherlock, who will this week complete an 18 month term as Interim Chaplain with Glenalmond College.
Charles stepped out of retirement to fill this role, having held Episcopal Church posts in the local area and further afield, during a long and varied career as a priest.
During the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s he undertook charity work in Ethiopia, and he hopes to spend more time there in years to come.
During his time with the College, Charles has given a huge amount, offering good sense and humility and a willingness to listen, to all in the community who came to ask advice or help.
He has ensured that the life of the Chapel has continued over the past year and a half, and offered a seamless transition to our new Chaplain whom we officially welcome to the role in the coming days.
Charles’ wisdom and long experience have proved extremely valuable, and both staff and pupils are grateful for the support he has offered in moments of need.
Charles counts the music of the chapel, the Choral Day and the Candlelit Christmas Carol services among the highlights of his time at Glenalmond, and says has learnt a great deal from kind but candid comments from pupils, which have carried the “ring of truth”.
