Pupil Success in National Hero Competition

Many congratulations to Ally L in our Third Form who has reached the Regional Finals stage of the Royal Mail's  Heroes Stamp Design Competition.

Competition 1

An incredible 606,049 entries were received from children across the UK, with an amazing 7,479 schools taking part. Congratulations to all the children who entered, as their designs contributed towards a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest postage stamp design competition.

It is therefore a great achievement to reach the Final 120 stage. You can view the 120 entries on the competition website here

From the 120 regional finalists, a special panel of judges will now determine the winning 24 regional designs and these will be announced in November.

Then, from these 24 entries, eight winning images will be chosen as official Royal Mail stamps, which will be signed off by Her Majesty The Queen. They will then appear on millions of items of mail across the UK when they are issued in the Spring of 2022.

Chris Moss, Glenalmond Artist in Residence, congratulated Ally on her entry, which was created when she was at her junior school, St Mary’s Melrose.
“Well done to Ally for a very strong piece of work which powerfully captures a moment in the life of one of the many medical heroes of the past 18 months,” said Mr Moss.
Good luck to Ally from us all for the next round!
