Sport at Glenalmond has always been such a focal point to the school. Hockey is one of the main sports, and as many old pupils will agree from the Under 14 B team to the 1st XI, there are few better places to learn such an enjoyable sport. With 2 Astroturf’s currently in operation, some lovely grass pitches around the grounds, and inspiring coaches turning out in no matter the weather, Glenalmond has always been regarded as one of the best hockey schools in Scotland. With a new international standard Astroturf coming soon to Coll, hockey is only going to further flourish.
There is great importance to keeping this hockey legacy going within the old pupil community. The OG Club now have a Hockey team who will play the school annually, as well as with an long term aim of playing other rival school old pupil teams. The annual Sunday fixture against the school sees a great opportunity for those old pupils to come back and see the changes, go to chapel, enjoy a lunch and in the afternoon have a fun game of hockey. There is playing kit provided with specially made shirts. I would encourage as many of you to get involved in the supporting the club in the future, there are no age restrictions whatsoever and everyone will get a run out. Whether a lady or gentleman, if you left last year or 40 years ago, it would be a great day out for all involved.
If you have any questions or would like to get involved please do hesitate to contact Matthew Waterston (Mathesons 2002-2007) -email@example.com or drop a line to the Development office firstname.lastname@example.org or 01738 842046.
