Our very best wishes to two pupils, current and former, who are taking part in a very important swimming trials event this week.
Katherine B in Lower Sixth will be competing at the British Swimming Selection Trials this week where swimmers are hoping to achieve consideration times for the Tokyo Olympics.
Katherine will be competing in the 800m freestyle on Thursday and 400m freestyle on Friday.
Former Glenalmond pupil Tobermory MacKay-Champion is also competing on Friday morning in the 200m breaststroke.
Glenalmond pupil Katherine B made an exciting return to racing at British Competition level in Manchester this weekend.
In this short article, Katherine explains how she has been managing to train during Lockdown and how good it is to be back competing. She also extends her thanks to teachers at Glenalmond for being "brilliant" in their support and helping her work round her training - even taking part in online lessons while travelling south at the weekend.
A former Glenalmond College pupil from Perthshire is inspiring young people to make the most of combining sport and study opportunities in life.
Tobermory Mackay-Champion, who is from Clathy, near Crieff, has this month achieved a First Class undergraduate master’s Degree in Earth Sciences (Geology) from the University of Oxford.
As of this year, he is also the holder of eight all-time University of Oxford swimming records and British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Men’s 200m LC breaststroke Champion (2020).
On a visit back to his old school this week, Tobermory said his strong advice was for young people to make sure they continue to enjoy taking part in sport and other activities, like music and drama, as well as academic study.

Well done to Tom J and Tobermory M-C who both swam at the Scottish Short Course National Swimming Championships at the Commonwealth pool in Edinburgh during the Christmas holiday.
Last week saw two days of intense competition at the Tayside and Fife Swimming Championships, an annual event that sees swimmers of all ages from across the district, convene on the Olympia Pool in Dundee.
