Glenalmond College made history at the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens this week, competing against over 800 schools at the largest school rugby tournament in the world.

U18s Reach the Knock-Out Stages

The U18s produced an impressive performance in the pool stages, winning all four of their matches to secure a place in the knock-out rounds. They opened with a 26-12 victory over Ivybridge Community College before edging a tense 22-21 win against Hymers College. Further victories over Howard of Effingham School (26-12) and Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School (21-7) confirmed their progression. Though their run came to an end in the knock-out stages, reaching that point in a tournament of this scale — against such quality opposition — is an achievement the squad and their coaches can be enormously proud of.

U16s Crowned Plate Champions

The U16s have written their own chapter in Glenalmond history. Dominant throughout their pool stages, they swept past Leicester Grammar School (49-12), Colfe's School (41-0), Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation (40-19) and Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun (49-14) without dropping a match. From there, they navigated a demanding eliminator stage — bouncing back from a narrow defeat to Cheltenham College (5-12) with victories over Aylesbury Grammar School (36-5) and Emanuel School (35-17). Momentum continued to build through the semi-finals, where they defeated Bedford Modern School (31-17) and Bedford School (22-14) to set up a Plate Final against Canford School. A composed and commanding 22-5 victory sealed the title, and with it, a place in the history of the school. A remarkable achievement and a day none of us will forget.

U14s Show Real Spirit

The U14s also represented Glenalmond with distinction, claiming victories over Ysgol Dyffryn Aman (26-22) and Dame Allan's Schools (45-7), before narrowly losing out to Gordon's School (7-17). Their performances throughout showed real spirit and bode well for the future.

Congratulations to all three squads and their coaches on a week to be proud of.
